Mai quanto quest'anno la lista dei lungometraggi documentari eleggibili dall'Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences per un posto nella cinquina finale è cosi impetuosamente vasta. Ben 145 titoli in lotta per l'Oscar al Miglior Documentario (e c'è anche l'Italia).
Dopo la scelta della Commissione ANEC di "Fuocoammare" come rappresentate dell'Italia nel Film Straniero, il toccante docudrama diretto da Gianfranco Rosi fa un doppio colpaccio: è infatti presente nella lunga lista dei documentari candidabili alla statuetta.
Il premiatissimo film di Rosi sarà dunque nominato all'Oscar in una sola delle due categorie? O in entrambi?
Difficile ancora dirlo, ma per ora nella categoria dei documentari dovrà vedersela con pesi massimi come Before The Flood, prodotta da Leonardo DiCaprio, Amanda Knox, curiosamente il Francofonia diretto da Alexander Sokurov, il bellissimo Into The Inferno del leggendario Werner Herzog e l'abbacinante Voyage of Time di Terrence Malick.
