La British Academy of Film and Television Arts ha da pochissimo aperto l'ultima busta contenente il premio maggiore durante una lunga Cerimonia tenutasi come da tradizione alla Royal Albert Hall di Londra; a trionfare è La La Land con ben 5 riconoscimenti (Film, Regia, Attrice, Fotografia, Colonna Sonora), ma ne vince molti di meno di quelli che ci sia aspettava.
Se Casey Affleck si conferma ora contendente formidabile per l'Oscar al Miglior Attore Protagonista contro il ferrato Deznel Washington e Viola Davis pare ormai imbattibile, a dare filo da torcere in alcune delle categorie artistiche è Lion, che vince a sorpresa come Miglior Attore Non Protagonista a Dev Patel e Miglior Sceneggiatura Non Originale.
