Il sindacato dei supervisori musicali è uno degli ultimi ad assegnare i suoi premi prima della cerimonia degli Oscar, che di fatto sarà il culmine di questa insolitamente breve stagione dei premi.
Tra i vincitori di questa guild troviamo C'era una volta a... Hollywood di Tarantino, ma anche film più piccolini come Queen & Slim, Waves e The Last Black Man in San Francisco. Mentre in campo televisivo vengono premiati i lavori dei supervisori e consulenti musicali di serie come Euphoria e La fantastica signora Maisel. Il premio alla miglior canzone va a "One Little Soldier" di Regina Spektor, da Bombshell, pezzo ineleggibile agli Oscar poiché non sottoposto all'Academy per motivi legati alle tempistiche della realizzazione del film.
