Il musical diretto da Tom Hooper fa incetta di candidature, e lo stesso regista britannico segna un curioso record in negativo: è il primo regista premi Oscar a ricevere una candidatura al Razzie. Tra gli interpreti candidati, oltre alla maggior parte del cast di Cats e l'immancabile Sylvester Stallone, anche Anne Hathaway e una doppia nomination a Rebel Wilson.
