This is like a theatrical House of Cards, fast-paced, intense, engaging yet overly dramatic and a little unrealistic political thriller. Enough tho the story doesn’t resemble reality much, it still keeps you at the edge of your seat.
Chastain’s performance is great. Controlled yet powerful, committed even physical. Even if slides into borderline camp a few times due to the nature of the script, it’s still an award-winning powerhouse drama performance. Actually, the ensemble as a whole is great. If the movie becomes big enough, Gugu can be a serious contender for supporting.
The only problem is that the movie itself feels too small to be anything other than a best actress vichele. But I won’t be surprised about screenplay, editing, and score getting recognitions.”
