Annunciate le candidature ai 36° ASC Awards, i premi cinematografici e televisivi assegnati ogni anno dalla American Society of Cinematographers, il sindacato dei direttori della fotografia. Nella cinquina dei film, ci sono titoli attesi come Dune, Macbeth, La fiera delle illusioni, Belfast e Il potere del cane, fuori a sorpresa West Side Story.
La direttrice della fotografia Ari Wegner (Il potere del cane) è soltanto la seconda donna a ricevere la candidatura dall’ASC Award nella sua storia, subito dopo Rachel Morrison per Mudbound. Nella storia pregressa del premio, soltanto due film hanno ottenuto l’Oscar alla miglior fotografia senza una candidatura qui: Glory (1989) e Il labirinto del fauno (2006):
