Amazing NYFF event here. Great crowd, which just gave up some thunderous applause for Regina King.— Kristopher Tapley (@kristapley) 10 ottobre 2018
With “If #BealeStreet Could Talk,” Barry Jenkins works like a jeweler, gently cutting Baldwin’s prose so it shines with even greater brilliance and setting those gem-like words in the most stunning cinematic framework. A feast of colors and sounds that builds and builds…— Christian Blauvelt (@ctblauvelt) 10 ottobre 2018
Need to sleep on it but IF BEALE STREET… is a strong, strong contender for my #1 of 2018.It’s a battle between it, FIRST REFORMED, COLD WAR, CIELO and MILFORD GRAVES FULL MANTIS.
However: ranking things like this is primitive and does no one any service!

If Beale Street Could Talk.….wow. Like… I’m speechless, broken, full.
Another Barry Jenkins classic.

IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK is exquisite. The marriage of James Baldwin and Barry Jenkins’ immense talents is both timely and timeless. It’s a testament to the beauty of Black love and the power of Black women. It packs a punch, but offers hope. #NYFF56 pic.twitter.com/WEwkfaHF9f— Jamie Righetti (@JamieRighetti) 10 ottobre 2018
Finding it quite hard to put into words what I’m feeling about @BealeStreet, and I certainly can’t do it in 280 characters, which I suppose means that it left me speechless. (And in case there’s any confusion, this is a good, and rare, thing.) #NYFF56— Franklin Leonard (@franklinleonard) 10 ottobre 2018
If Beale Street Could Talk is another MASTERPIECE by @BarryJenkins. The legacy of Baldwin’s work is portrayed magnificently onscreen by a powerful cast of courageous actors who bare their souls to the world in this brilliant piece of cinema. Barry, you are a genius.
