Tony Awards 2018: Amy Schumer, Andrew Garfield e Denzel Washington tra i nominati

Non solo cinema e televisione, anche il teatro ha la sua importanza tra le espressioni dell’intrattenimento americano, e non è azzardato in fin dei conti definire il Tony Award come il premio più difficoltoso da conquistare per un attore, forse anche più dell’Oscar, convincendo la critica teatrale americana, sempre più esigente, e sempre più diffidente nei confronti della star ereditate da Broadway dal cinema hollywoodiano.

È il caso quest’anno dove nelle nomination dei Tony Awards 2018 capeggiano numerosissimi nomi noti al grande pubblico. Nella categoria del miglior attore protagonista si fronteggeranno infatti Andrew Garfield, acclamato per la sua performance nel revival di Angels in America, e i premi Oscar, Mark Rylance e Denzel Washington, nelle pièce Farinelli and The King e Eugene O’Neill’s The Iceman Cometh. Sul versante femminile sorprende invece la presenza dell’irriverente comedian Amy Schumer, nominata tra le protagoniste per Meteor Shower, e la reduce della nomination all’Oscar per Lady Bird, Laurie Metcalf, anche qui non protagonista Edward Albee’s Three Tall Women. 
Tra le pièce nominate troviamo invece Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts One and Two, mentre tra i musical il chiacchierato adattamento teatrale di Mean Girls, e a sorpresa il proficuo Frozen. La cerimonia di premiazione andrà in onda il prossimo 10 giugno su CBS, qui di seguito la lista completa delle nomination.
