Il nuovo adattamento cinematografico di Assassinio sull'Orient Express era tra i titoli più attesi di fine anno; l'immortale racconto scritto da Agatha Christie era stato affidato alle teatrali mani di regista ed interprete di Kenneth Branagh, mentre il cast da brividi avrebbe potuto assicurare un successo di pubblico e critica. A quanto pare così non è stato, almeno in Usa.
Il film di e con Branagh e che vanta un cast stellare tra cui spiccano Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Michelle Pfeiffer, Judi Dench e Willem Dafoe è stato unanimemente bocciato dalla critica oltreoceano, bacchettando al nuovo adattamento contemporaneo mancanza di pathos e tensione narrativa nonostante l'uso del 70mm nella realizzazione e i sontuosi costumi e scenografie. Una ennesima occasione mancata che a molti ha già fatto rimpiangere il piccolo capolavoro del giallo cinematografico che era il film omonimo di Sidney Lumet del 1975.
Assassinio sull'Orient Express arriverà nelle sale italiane mercoledì 6 Dicembre.
