Diretta dall’insospettabile regista di commedie sguaiate Peter Farrelly, la dramedy Green Book è stato uno dei titoli più applauditi dal pubblico del Toronto International Film Festival, forte candidato al People’s Choice Award assieme al già acclamato A Star Is Born.
Con protagonisti il premio Oscar Mahershala Ali e il candidato alla statuetta Viggo Mortensen, Green Book è la vera storia di Tony Lip, un buttafuori italo-americano che nel 1962 viene ingaggiato per portare Don Shirley, uno dei pianisti jazz più famosi del mondo, da New York sino al profondo sud degli USA per un tour di concerti. Nell’epoca precedente all’affermazione dei diritti civili, l’afroamericano Shirley deve difendersi dal razzismo e dai pericoli a esso connessi. I due si ritroveranno inaspettatamente a stringere un inaspettato legame, aprendo entrambi gli occhi sulla realtà e sul mondo in cui vivono.
Prodotto dalla Focus Features negli Usa, il film di Peter Farrelly verrà distribuito sul mercato internazionale da Universal Pictures.
