‘A Star Is Born’ e ‘Crazy & Rich’ tra i candidati ai Producers Guild Awards 2019

Molti nomi noti tra i 10 film candidati dal sindacato dei produttori americano, ma anche qualche gradita sorpresa.

Ottengono una nomination Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rapsody, La favorita e A Star Is Born, Vice ed il messicano Roma, ma le vere sorprese sono l’horror A Quiet Place e la commedia con un cast completamente asiatico Crazy & Rich che da adesso sono dei seri candidati anche per la candidatura all’Oscar al miglior film, di cui i PGA sono il più affidabile precursor. Sorprendente l’assenza del kolossal musicale Il ritorno di Mary Poppins, sempre più quotato dopo le nomination ottenute ai Golden Globe, e del favorito della critica Se la strada potesse parlare di Barry Jenkins. Tra i film animati spunta Il Grinch, che dovrà vedersela con L’Isola dei cani, Gli Incredibili 2 ed il favoritissimo Spider-Man: un nuovo universo.
Nelle categorie televisive rientrano i finora dimenticati Maniac e The Romanoff, così come le apprezzatissime Barry, La fantastica signora Maisel, Sharp Objects e The Handmaid’s Tale.
Negli ultimi 29 anni il film che ha vinto il PGA, ha poi trionfato anche agli Oscar in ben 20 occasioni, ed il premio del sindacato dei produttori, esattamente come l’Academy, utilizza il sistema di voto preferenziale per determinare i propri vincitori. Per questo, e perché buona parte dei supoi 8200 membri votanti hanno anche diritto di voto presso l’Academy, i PGA assolutamente cruciali nel percorso di un film verso l’Oscar. I vincitori della trentesima edizione dei Producers Guild Awards verranno rivelati il prossimo 19 gennaio, in una cerimonia che si terrà al Beverly Hilton Hotel, stessa struttura che ogni anno ospita i Golden Globe.
