Gli Independent Spirit Awards 2022 danno ufficiosamente inizio alla stagione dei premi con le sue candidature; ben otto per Everything Everywhere All At Once dei The Daniels, seguito dalle sette menzioni per Tàr di Todd Field.

Cinque nomination per Aftersun di Charlotte Wells e quattro per Women Talking di Sarah Polley, a cui è stato già assegnato il prestigioso Robert Altman Award per il cast corale tutto al femminile. La cerimonia di premiazione dei più importanti riconoscimenti del cinema low-budget americano si terrà sabato 4 marzo 2023.
