Record di candidature per Never Rarely Sometimes Always ai 36° Independent Spirit Awards, i più prestigiosi riconoscimenti cinematografici dedicati al cinema statunitense low-budget; con sette nomination, il film scritto e diretto da Eliza Hittman parte in pole position, seguito a ruota con sei menzioni da Minari di Lee Isaac-Chung.

Con cinque candidature seguono rispettivamente Nomadland di Chloé Zhao e Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom di George C. Wolfe. Snobbato nelle categorie principali One Night in Miami, premiato però con il Robert Altman Award al miglior cast d’insieme.

La cerimonia di premiazione avverrà giovedì 22 aprile in diretta sui canali social di IFC, a tre giorni dalla notte degli Oscar.
