La Writers Guild of America ha scelto i titoli cinematografici e televisivi incoronati come le migliori sceneggiature dell’anno, originali ed adattate, sia nel campo cinematografico che per il piccolo schermo. E probabilmente abbiamo un titolo che potrà guadagnare molti voti favorevoli in vista del ballottaggio finale per gli Academy Awards a fine mese.
A dominare nella sceneggiatura originale è Scappa – Get Out e il suo regista/scrittore Jordan Peele alla sua prima esperienza dietro la macchina da presa; l’horror satirico campione di incassi in Usa si posiziona quindi in un angolo privilegiato nella corsa all’Oscar anche per il miglior film. Nella sceneggiatura adattata trionfo previsto per Chiamami col tuo nome e James Ivory. Da sottolineare però come la lotta per l’Oscar allo script originale si risolverà tra Peele e la scrittura brillante di Martin McDonagh per Tre manifesti a Ebbing, Missouri, qui assente a causa dei crediti di sceneggiatura non conformi ai dettami del sindacato.
Nelle categorie televisive grandi trionfi per The Handmaid’s Tale, Big Little Lies, Will & Grace e Bojack Horseman.
